Entertaining with In-Season Summer Produce:
5 Ways to Incorporate In-Season Summer Produce to your Entertaining Menus:
1) Simply place fruits and vegetables on, or in, a nice platter/bowl, place on the table and you are good to go! With all the beauty that lies to behold, I am sure you won’t have to persuade anyone to enjoy the season’s produce.
2) Fancy up your beverages: add herbs(like mint) to iced tea, or herbs/fruit/cucumber to water, or other beverages.
3) Shake up some of your go-to dishes to match the season:
Charcuterie trays, pizza, different types of salads, sauces, salsas, dips, pasta mix-ins, or stir-ins, can all be tailored to match the growing season.
Don’t forget to garnish with some fresh herbs too!
4) Grill/add fruit for an upscale dessert.
Grill peaches/other halved stone fruit and top with frozen yogurt or ice cream, and something for a little crunch.
Top ice cream with berries.
Add a sprig of mint to make it a little bit more fancy!
5) Try something new!
Get a suggestion from your local farmer/family/friends on how they like to use in season produce, and share how you got your inspiration with others- I am sure it will make for a wonderful conversation, and they may even want the recipe too!
Get inspired: look up a new recipe, or try to replicate one of your favorite in-season restaurant dishes at home.
Bonus: conversation starter tip!
Whether picking your own, or visiting a farm market or stand, be sure to share where or how you got your fresh produce, your experience and why you chose what you did. It will definitely make for a great conversation to be had!
